It’s all too easy for children to view Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as just an extra day off from school. Our public relations team arranged for Jim Clark, a licensed clinical social worker and president and CEO of Daniel, to discuss the importance of celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. King with children on WJXT4: The Local Station yesterday.
Clark explained how teachers and parents can use the holiday as an opportunity to teach children how Dr. King’s leadership changed the face of a nation and help them better understand the struggles people faced while fighting for racial equality.
Some qualities all children can learn from Dr. King’s life include:
- Equality
- Power of Words
- Faith
- Nonviolence
- Hope
