Galina Volkovinskaya, 60, is a Ukranian-born Jewish refugee who fled her country due to religious discrimination, limited freedoms and poor living conditions in 1988. Since resettling her family in Jacksonville, Volkovinskaya has spent more than 20 years helping other refugees start new lives in America as an integration coordinator for the Lutheran Social Services refugee program.
Our public relations team worked with Michelle Quesada at First Coast News to share Volkovinskaya’s experience as a refugee and discuss how she’s now helping other refugees through her role at Lutheran Social Services. Volkovinskaya also offered her insight about the current state of affairs in Ukraine as well as reaction to the alleged reports of Jewish registration requirements in the eastern part of the country.
